Holy cow! That's a killer line already. This does not make me optimistic for getting to the Spectrum at 3. Might have to move that up to 2, if I can.

I expected your post to be something along this view ... can you source the fact he has little or nothing to do with Al-Queda?
He's just re-stating the obvious.
Al Quaeda isn't a tighly led organisation. It's a movement. Loosing a leader is of little concequence.
USA Today analysis from a few years back (http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2009-06-07-al-qaeda_N.htm).

I would think an iWatch would be a great seller for Apple.
Well, the iWatch (http://gizmodo.com/#!5634260/the-ipod-nano-watch-is-here-and-it-is-glorious) has been out for a while now, hasn't it? ;)

I think that some of us may be overestimating the coolness of the player as the factor. While that worked in the early days, it may not now.
Apple has in their favor the fact that many people now have ripped CDs and bought protected music in Apple formats. If that base is solid enough, Urge won't fly, and hence there won't be a large installed base of protected WMA files in search of a player. If a significant number of Vista users are just starting their collection, or building on existing MP3s, there is a very strong chance that they will do the easiest thing and buy protected WMA files from Urge. This could spell disaster for Apple, particularly if Microsoft is willing to replace any protected AAC files in people's collections free of charge.
Finally, while in the early days of online music sales, it was the players and not the music downloads that drove the market, we are inevitably going to find that the players become the razor and the downloadable music the blades. Microsoft will probably price their player based on that model.

No one has a monopoly on threads and as such no one should really feel too possessive about them. The last purchase thread was about due for a reincarnation after surpassing 2000 posts. (Page numbers don't matter as much because posts per page are user customizable.)
I bought some chill pills™ and I'd be happy to share. :)

hopefully it is a hairy toast, otherwise we have just one more shot, with only 25% of success, before the village is doomed (barring some hunter magic).

I am not too keen on this "cartoony" 3D effect Apple seem to be going for.
Torn off pages… faux-leather binding… I mean doesn't anyone else think it is a bit corny?
It really does seems as if the cutesyeness of the iOS is spreading over to OSX.
I'd prefer a clean modern OS with usability first and foremost.
Screw the gratuitous eyecandy…
Wow. I thought I was the only one-nice to see that at least one other person feels the same way.

... perhaps most surprisingly, the iPhone 3GS took second place in the rankings. Despite essentially being a nearly two-year-old device . . .
That speaks volumes.
That low price sells?
According to your past posts, selling phones at a low price ($49 in this case) is a sign of desperation, of an attempt to flood the market.
Heck, that's far cheaper than BOGO sales for other handsets where two people have sign long contracts.
Or, could it just possibly be that people aren't always swayed just by price? That the device itself could be a major factor?

the virtual appliance stuff will be great for people who host their own casual low-traffic blogs and such. i was doing that, but then i worried that someone would hack in and screw with important files. knowing that the server is in a virtual machine would make things a lot nicer.

My MBP has been having some strange issues lately, so I've pulled the plug on Folding to see if that helps stabilize the system. That'll drop me out of the top 10 pretty quickly, what with all there crazy numbers some of you guys are posting. Ought to drop my PPD to about 1,400 or so.

If you don't have a daughter, then you don't have a clue.
I have seen some transgenders, and I have nothing to say to them.
I could say the same to you. Your lack of empathy and understanding for people different to you through no fault of their own appears to be manifesting itself in violent bigotry.

Yes. I am sure the number 3-25 top selling smartphones all have hardware keyboards.
The 1 and 2 are both Apple iPhones and they don't have them though.
I suspect the sales figures of the iPhone 4 and 3GS probably surpass the top 8-10 Android devices combined.
That is called marketplace domination. Clearly a lot of people here don't have much business experience or understand how business works, but such control of a marketplace is significant, especially given the number of devices available for sale.
Does HTC sell more smartphones than Apple? Does Motorola? How about Samsung? No, no and no.
I believe samsung is the highest selling smartphone manufacturer when you take into account that it does have its own OS that it still sells. They are currently the highest selling phone manufacturer. It is difficult to compete with the iPhone. One factor many of you are simply ignoring is that if you want iOS on your phone you have to buy an iPhone. If you want android you do not have to buy a nexus. Limiting the amount of models that run the software will funnel all the sales into those models. It makes since when you think about it.
The second thing is do people consider the phone "families". Like how Samsung makes the Galaxy S then they redo it several times in the Year. They release it on different carriers with slightly different bodies and button layout and different radios. It happens their is a Galaxy S phone on every major US Carrier. The LG Optimus 1 is on every US carrier but Boost mobile.

I've got a question for you guys. Any of you Mac users that also run Windows on a box somewhere:
Are any of you really going to upgrade to Vista when it comes out? or are you going to wait at least a year?

"iX" = "Ix", which is the nickname for the character Ford Prefect in the book "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
Obviously, the new Apple device is either a digital watch or a towel.
It's the new iWatch nano with a built in towel rack!

Yep...I mean no, er uh...iCal is ugly :(
That really is disheartening. I used iCal for years in school, and now that I'm starting my own practice I've got the entire office scheduling through iCal. I guess ugliness won't be a good reason to switch to something else... and I'll hold out hope that Apple makes this "feature" optional before Lion is released. Unlikely, though, I'd guess.

Ouch that is early. I could probably make it an hour before they open but not 5 lol. Don't know if it would even be worth it at that point. Maybe a week from now?
