~Mosaic Monday: Roman Inspiration~

This
Mosaic Monday
is all about our bathroom remodel inspiration
Isn't it crazy how you can find inspiration for anything, anywhere?

Rome is one of our favorite cities in the world . . .
and we have so many fun travel photographs from here, as well as many many fun memories.

So we decided to use Rome as our inspiration for our bathroom.

Painted frescos
Roman fountains
Poppies
Roman ruins
Feminine marble statues
Stone

So this is our demolishing . . .
I helped a little . . . but my hot handy man did most of this part :-)

look at those arms, yum!

next up:
*installing vanity and counter-tops
(actually waiting for the guys to come as we speak!)
*Waiting for our new tub to arrive
*Buy travertine for our tiling (which we will do ourselves, so excited!
*Pick out a large mirror and lighting
*Find a statue (sooo excited about this too!)
We bought a "red" paint from Benjamin Moore . . . and we were looking for a muted red . . . but it turned out to be bright pink, even after 3 coats!

Heee heee oooops!
Will keep you guys posted!

Any remodelling projects you have going right now, or wanting to?

Happy Monday!!!

~Our European Vaca 2010: Day 4~

Good morning my blog-alicious ladies!

It's Thursday and my 2nd day off this week . . .
why are my days off going by so fast?!
I have a list of a ton to do, and don't nearly get as much as I want done, BUT at least I'm getting things done right?!
Organizing my closet!
(ok swooon! I want this shoes closet!-source here-)

Yup making room for some fun fashion, and putting away my new purchases (more on this soon with pics!)
I have 2 bags of clothes, shoes and purses to donate!

Speaking of getting things done . . .
For those who have been following my blog know I am still slowly posting (and editing) pics from our vaca . . . yeah ok so it was in May!
Slacker right?!
Just busy and keeping you in suspense:-)

Anywho . . . Day 4 of our European Vaca 2010 . . . and the last day in Rome!

***Our luggage finally arrived!***
Yup after 3 days of no luggage- it finally arrived and I have new shoes to wear!!!!

Lots and lots of walking around . . .
Rome is just amazing

Now by the "Jewish Ghetto" area and our favorite pizza shop- always busy and full of locals
 (a good sign right?!)
One of our fave buildings: Portico Octavia:
Mmmmm food!!!
Our yummy meal of caprise, sardines, tuna pizza, etc. so yum!
Then to a bakery nearby, mmmm

Always gotta love the ruins in Rome

It's pretty much just amazing! This church has 3 layers of buildings

Most modern level- so beautiful!

Then begins the decent . . . the lady gave us a tour of all the old areas that were excavated and told us what each area was, so neat!
Then more walking around and we found the famous "Roman Holiday" lie detector

How could you be in Italy and not try some lemoncello?
Siesta time!!!
After a small nap (ok we need siesta in the U.S.!!!)
Off to get a snack and walk around some more
Above the Spanish Steps

After a few gelatos and a cappucino . . . of to Trevi!
Some random store had this cute lil guy outside:
One of our fave things in Rome: the gorgeous cathedrals! We must've gone into like 15
Until next time!

Today we are going to the hubby's work "summer" party . . . lots of pics will be taken, drinks had, and fun times:-)

Hope you have a fabulous day my dears!!!

~European Vacation 2010 . . . Day 3 . . . Rome~

Happy Thursday my lovely readers!!!

I am slowly (yes very very slowly) editing and going through our 4000 pics from our May/June Europe trip . . . here is our day #3 in Rome!
Carrying our lil' friend the Garmin . . . sooo helpful in travels!!!
This day we walked a TON and visited several amazing cathedrals and churches, one of our fave things to do in Rome!!!

(again: obsession with doors!)
The sacred steps! This is our second time up these.  You have to crawl on your knees up, and it's such a spiritual experience! These original steps are from Jerusalem, and Jesus had walked on them! The now have the original steps covered in wood, but you can touch the marble as you go up.  Pretty sweet!
Many amazing sights to see!
(ok and same jacket as before- yup 3rd day and NO LUGGAGE!)
But I did go shopping woot woot!
We ventured out to the Baths of Caracalla (lonnnng walk!)
It's crazy to imagine how it used to look
Circus Maximus!
More beautiful ornate churches
Ok so it was raining hard in the afternoon, and all we had was our hotel umbrella which was HUGE! I was walking around bumping the umbrella into Italian people left and right, ooops!
At the Panthenon
Tomb of Raphael
Don't you just LOVE the colors of the buildings?!
It was sooo cute, if you look close you can see a bride and groom hanging out of the window outlooking the plaza.
Awwww!
Love me some fountains!
Me being cheesy
Mmmmm gelato, we had like 4 a day!

Wooo hooo 3 days down, 12 more to go!
One more day of Rome and than off to France . . .

~Make sure to come back tomorrow~
